Adding Warmth for the Autumn Season

Autumn is by far our favourite time of year. There are so many reasons why we love this season. Among them: home made baking, the cool breeze flowing through our living space, and brisk walks in the great outdoors to take in the fall foliage. When the leaves begin to fall, the landscape becomes spooky, revealing the skeletal branches of the forest.
Yet for all our love for this time of year; it was only over the past couple of years that we started to decorate our home in celebration of the fall season. Since starting our journey with Rome Wild, we are now more connected to the seasons than ever before. We celebrate each one with traditions, including seasonal decor for all four seasons of the year.

This year we wanted to add more warmth to our space. We live in a somewhat industrial space with lots of exposed chrome pipes and concrete walls. To warm up the space, we started by combing through our print collection. With all the photography we’ve done over the past few years we had our eyes on the lookout for warm tones like reds, oranges and browns.
For our gallery wall we combined all of our favourite cities we’ve been fortunate enough to visit over the past year. We decided to go for cityscapes as they complimented our industrial space. Each print features brick walls, historic architecture, and warm lamplight.

What we love about this gallery wall, apart from the warmth it added to the space, is that it includes the variety of work we’ve shot over the past three years and how our work has evolved from hours of field work along the hiking trails or city streets.
In addition to our seasonal gallery wall; we also put together faux floral arrangements for autumn throughout our home, added moody tapered candles, and gold accents to mix in with the chrome.

We hope our fall décor inspires you for the fall season and be sure to let us know in the comments if you will be decorating for spooky season as well!
We wish you a wonderful autumn. Our focus this fall will be on shooting eerie, spooky and hopefully mystical woodland landscapes. We will be sharing our process on the blog and social media over the next few weeks.
Stay Wild,
Rod & Meg
