That first day away is always a bit of a haze. The jet lag hits at random times, but we were prepared. After dropping our bags off at our accommodations near Shoreditch, our first stop was for coffee and bagels. Much needed fuel for a day of exploring. We spent the day getting our bearings and adjusting to the new time zone. London for us, is a familiar place. We’ve been once before, but even before that, it feels like a place we’ve always known. Dreamt of through stories and film - it’s a magical place.

Even on sunny days, it's moody. It could be the towering buildings both old and new along the narrow streets, tricking you into thinking that the sun’s disappeared behind the clouds. Or the dimly lit pubs we found ourselves in and out of to rest along our walks through the different boroughs.

But when it rains, which it will, the city’s mood is enhanced. Through the fog and rain one can marvel at the city’s vibrance. The red double decker busses pop and the lush green gardens line the main streets, highlighted by the orange glow of the lamplight.

During our three day visit we traveled mostly on foot. We used the expansive subway system to travel home after a long day’s walk, averaging about 23,000 steps per day. These walks prepared us for a restful night’s sleep, refreshing us for the next part of our trip - five days in Wiltshire, a picturesque county about an hour west of London.

Going through the many photos we photographed in London, we ended up with these favourites which have now been added to our print collection. We felt each one captured that mood of London. Dark but vibrant, damp but warm and far away yet familiar.

It’s amazing how quick a new place can feel like home. Whether you’ve never been, but have dreamt of going, or a place you’ve visited before. There are many cities we like to call home, even if they’re not yet checked off the bucket list.

When we created our collection of Wall Art prints, the goal was to dare both us and our customers to dream, no matter the season. We hope this new series inspires you; whether you’re a fellow London traveller looking for the perfect keepsake, or are looking for new home décor to refresh your space for the autumn season.

All our prints are available in our Etsy Shop and you can enjoy $5.00 off your order using the code ‘FAVOURITES’.

Stay Wild,

Rod & Meg
