A Vintage-Inspired Autumn

Everything about this time of year feels like a refresh, and yet there is so much about the fall season that is reminiscent. The smell of autumn leaves can bring on a feeling of nostalgia. The frost along the forest floor, which turns to a foggy mist when day breaks creates a spooky and otherworldly landscape. The rich colours of plum, rust, and gold inspire, reminding us of bygone eras.

In our photography practice, we strive to create imaginative spaces through the lens, looking for details over grand vistas. We sometimes take this a step further through sourcing vintage wood frames that we can repurpose and custom style for each image.

When we photographed Fruit Bowl, we knew a modern frame would not work. So we painted a vintage wood frame to match the retro sky blue of the image. The abstract leaves, and their seventies-era palette, popped against the blue sky backdrop.

We often include pieces from our print collection along with pumpkins, candles, and faux florals, when decorating for the fall season. Our foliage prints are a great way to warm an otherwise neutral living space for September and early October. The closer we get to Halloween, we will switch out prints for some of our spookier woodlands, like Broomstick, or L’automne.
We hope you enjoy decorating for the autumn season as much as we do. Whatever your favourite vintage era, from gothic woodlands, to retro landscapes, we hope our In Autumn collection inspires you this Spooky Season.
If there is a particular season you prefer to decorate for, feel free to let us know in the comments as we curate our print collection around the four seasons of the year.
Our Print Collection is available on Etsy or you can shop our prints in person at Arts Market on the Danforth in Toronto.
Stay Wild,
